Description

This little known varietal is found almost exclusively in California and its introduction dates back to the 1880s. With close to only 80 total acres planted for the entire state, it is not surprising that many have never heard of – let alone tasted – this bold beauty. Deep purple in color with brooding aromas of blackberries and cassis accented by olives and wild plums. Medium-bodied with flavors of mixed berries, currants, and a hint of tobacco. -Winery
